Why we do not eat much beef in Bulgaria and they do not sell it in most of the shops? I like it?

Beef is rarely often in restaurants and is much expensive than other meats. On top of that you can rarely find a well prepared beef steak... Pork is the most widespread meat for grill and barbeque. Anyone can explain? Is it culture or climate or else ?
