Is there any test, to find hard water/soft water?

Actually you can tell if water is soft by feeling it when it is hot. If it is soft, it will feel oily on your skin. As well, any kind of soap rlathers better in soft water. If you have a coffee pot that needs to be cleaned alot, or you see rust stains or scale around the drains, then the water is hard. There are test strips that you can get from your local plumbing supply store that will allow you to check your water hardness levels, which is handy to make sure the water softener is operating correctly.
